KUCHING: Councillors, community leaders and party workers in Padawan are encouraged to help those who do not have smartphone to register for the vaccination.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said that MPP oversees a huge area and those who reside in the peripheral of Padawan may have difficulty in registering themselves due to poor internet connectivity or they do not have their own smartphones.

“To make sure that those who are eligible to register, I encourage councillors, community leaders and party workers to assist the rural communities especially those in urban centres in the registration.

“I believe that those who have smartphones with MySejahtera app installed in their phones can register directly where internet services are available or when they move to areas with internet connectivity,” he said.

He noted that having a phone is still convenient and the residents can use their children’s or relatives’ or friends’ phone for updates when the authority  notify the registered applicant on their turn to be vaccinated.

“As for my constituency at Batu Kitang, I have advised my party comrades to help those who do not have smartphones to register online or the residents themselves could also walk in to my service centre at 6th mile for registration assistance.

“With the existence of online registration, we encourage those without smartphones to ask for help from those who are closest to them for the registration as these friends and relatives would be able to directly notify them immediately on their turn for vaccination,” said Lo who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman.
