KUCHING: Old Time Favourite’s noble efforts in running their eatery business was deeply praised and welcomed by Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah

She pointed out that the hawkers at the eatery were offered free stall rentals during the first three months of their current operation which started yesterday (July 11).

“This is because the eatery’s owner Clement Chee understood the difficulty for small bumiputera hawkers to start their business due to the movement control order (MCO).

“This is a noble effort by Old Time Favourite — to give entrepreneurs the opportunity who are starting their business in this period,” she said when met by reporters at the soft launching of Old Time Favourite eatery at No 75, Jalan Ban Hock yesterday (July 11).

Fatimah added that with the offer of free stall rental for three months, it allows traders to stand on their own feet and through their income, they can continue to thrive.

The eatery also provides a variety of dishes and it gives an opportunity for patrons to enjoy local delicacies such as ayam percik, Sarawak laksa, traditional cakes, and so on.

“Their noble effort is very touching where during and after Covid-19, a lot of parties were deeply affected, especially those from the B40 group.

“Thankfully, with such an offer, it helps hawkers to earn income to support their families,” she said.

Chee explained that the rent for a stall at Old Time Favourite is RM300 a month.

“We do provide equipment to make it easier for hawkers to run their food businesses and so on,” he told.

Fatimah also called on the public to come and experience for themselves the variety of food offered at the eatery.

Old Time Favourite started operating effective yesterday (July 11) and the eatery offers ‘nostalgic’ or traditional food, as well as halal food.

The operation hours are from 8am to 10pm daily.
