KUCHING: Bintulu Deputy Resident Abang Zainuddin Abang Turkey is optimistic that the Northern Zone wushu squad will deliver at the upcoming third Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) in Sibu from Jan 15 to 18.

He expressed great confidence in the team’s potential to showcase exceptional performances and fierce competition against teams from other zones.

“I have immense faith in the team to triumph at the impending SUKSAR.

“I anticipate our athletes delivering outstanding displays, engaging in intense competition, and securing a higher medal count than in previous SUKSAR events,” he said during a visit to the Jun Wei Bintulu Wushu Centre here recently.

Abang Zainuddin emphasised the importance of athletes exercising caution to prevent injuries, adhering strictly to competition regulations, and upholding exemplary sportsmanship.

Wushu stands among the 13 sporting events in the third edition of SUKSAR, featuring weightlifting, cycling, basketball, volleyball, futsal, hockey, judo, karate, silat, sepak takraw, boxing, and taekwondo.

Moreover, SUKSAR aims to function as a talent-spotting platform, identifying prospective athletes who could potentially represent Sarawak in Sukma 2024.
