MUKAH: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi is optimistic that the first pilot liquid sago waste treatment plant established in Kampung Teh here would spur the sago industry to new heights in future.

The plant, the first in the world, was built by Craun Research Sdn Bhd (Craun) in collaboration with Nitsei Sago Industries Sdn Bhd.

Abdul Yakub hoped the technology developed by Craun would assist sago smallholders to increase their productivity and incomes.

He said this at the launch of the plant in Kampung Teh which was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

At the event, Abdul Yakub also briefed Abang Johari on project applications by the constituents, such as road upgrading and village extension.
