Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations), spared her time to attend a “Majlis Malam Randau” event organised by pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang on December 6, 2022 at CIDB Convention Centre.

Sharifah Hasidah delivers a speech.

Pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang is made up of youth aged 18 to 28 from the N7 Samariang branch who are affiliated with the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) youth wing.

The seminar was held in conjunction with the New Year’s celebrations in order to introduce Belia 1828 N7 Samariang to the general public, particularly the residents and youth of N7 Samariang.

Sharifah Hasidah expressed her support for the committee and recognised the effort put in to organise the event.

“Keep up the good work and effort, and I’m confident that this committee (pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang) will flourish and achieve greater success in the near future,” she said.

Questions about the concept and purpose behind the establishment of PBB Belia 1828 were included during the seminar.

“The term 1828 denotes youth aged 18-28, and it is intended to cater to youth of that age. PBB establishes the youth wing, which serves as a platform for the young people to express their concerns and opinions, and perhaps through this platform, they can make suggestions on behalf of all the youth.

“Through platforms such as pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang, they serve as a bridge that connects us with the youth in N7 Samariang, allowing their voices to be heard as they better relate to their peers. We are attempting to understand and meet the needs and desires of the youth, which is why Belia 1828 exists,” she said.

Nina Baihaki, President of pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang, when asked why she became involved in Belia 1828, said, “I’ve always believed in the ethic of giving back. My parents instilled in me the importance of empathy and generosity toward others.

Nina delivers her welcome speech.

“Moreover, I’m here because 1828 is a good platform to continue the philanthropic effort by starting with the younger generation. This approach can indirectly nurture humanity and encourage young people to be philanthropic as a group. This will be accomplished through a variety of programmes or events that we intend to hold in the long run. I know we can do it without having to be where I am today, but I am blessed and fortunate to be given this opportunity to share and contribute my effort to give back to the community through a prodigious channel like this.

“I also believe that by making these gestures, we can develop future leaders.”

Pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang has 11 exco members, including Nina and Muhd Izzul Zikri as Vice President.

“I believe and hope that in the future, 1828 N7 Samariang will deliver or carry out many young talents and be known for their generosity and leadership skills.

“We are currently working to achieve these goals for the benefit of Sarawak, particularly N7 Samariang. Who knows, we might find future leaders among the new young talents to ensure the security of N7 Samariang.”

Nina expressed her hopes and dreams for Pro-tem Belia 1828 N7 Samariang, as well as its unlikely status as a tourism hotspot given its location.

“I hope that 1828 N7 Samariang will continue to grow and receive the same recognition as other branches, despite the fact that it is not centralised as a tourism hotspot. The younger generations here, like those in other branches, share the same passion and vision as the others,” she added.

Attendees from N7 Samariang participated in a Question-and-Answer session with Sharifah Hasidah, and one of the discussions was about e-Sports.

“Yes, I will consider holding another e-Sports competition in N7 Samariang for the youth to participate in, as we did the last time,” the Deputy Minister said.

Sharifah Hasidah said that she is open to suggestions and ideas. She will evaluate the proposals to see if they are relevant to the needs and desires of the youth.

“I look forward to more events involving N7 Samariang youth, and I am confident that we can make it work if both sides show their support and ensure that it is reciprocated,” she added.
