MIRI: The police here have received high praise for their close rapport with the local community.
They were heaped with such tribute after holding their Gawai Raya joint celebration whereby associations and people from all walks of life were invited and certainly with the aim to establish close relationship with their guests, irrespective of racial and religious backgrounds.
Leading the community to extend their appreciation to the men in blue was the Federation of Miri Division Chinese Associations president Datuk David Goh.
Goh who attended the Gawai-Raya held on June 16 at IPD Miri also applauded the police for taking the effort to form strong bond, which is important part in achieving peace and harmony in the local society.
During the event Goh got the opportunity to extend his thanks personally to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu and Special Branch officer deputy superintendent DSP Chua Su Hua as well as other senior officers.
