KUCHING: A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed, while three others sustained injuries in a collision involving three motorcycles at Jalan Kota Samarahan-Kampung Baru on Friday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga said the deceased was identified as Mohamad Razmin Haron from Kampung Senari, Jalan Bako. He died on the spot.
A 24-year-old woman from Kampung Batu, Kota Samarahan, who was riding pillion on one of the motorcycles, suffered severe injuries while the other two motorcyclists aged 24 and 49 years suffered minor injuries.
It is believed that Mohamad Razmin was riding at a high speed when he collided with the two motorcycles in front of him. All three vehicles were travelling in the same direction.
“Initial investigation revealed that the 24-year-old victim’s motorcycle ran out of fuel and was assisted by the 49-year-old motorcyclist and his pillion rider at the side of the road when Mohamad Razmin lost control of his machine and rammed into the two motorcycles by the side of road,” said Alexson when contacted yesterday.
All the injured were taken to Sarawak General Hospital, while Mohamad Razmin’s remains were sent to the hospital morgue.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
