MIRI: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie stressed the significance of bolstering zakat contributions to sustain the organisation’s key programmes.

Shibli referenced TBS’s achievements in 2023, where it reached its target with a zakat collection of RM141.5 million.

“In 2023, TBS gave aids to 60,000 beneficiaries with a total disbursement of RM70.28 million, while in 2024, 30,097 individuals benefited from RM26 million as of April,”  he told reporters here during TBS’s Hari Raya open house programme at the Sarawak Islamic Complex yesterday (May 6).

In 2024, the number of beneficiaries are 30,097 individuals, with a total disbursement of RM26 million as of April,” he said.

“The more people who give zakat, the more we will be able to move our four programmes to help those in need,” he said.

On corporate zakat contributions, Shibli noted a positive trend in 2024.

He highlighted the growing awareness among corporate entities on the crucial role of zakat in aiding those in need.
