MIRI: The Fourth edition of “Highland Folk Music and Dance Festival 2018”, organised by Telang Usan district office, is set to kick off on Dec 14 and 15 at Long Bedian to promote the cultural heritage of Orang Ulu and Penan using different kinds of traditional dance and music.

Telang Usan state assemblyman Dennis Ngau said, “Through this festival, it will not only attract the locals but also outsiders.

“In addition, Long Bedian is located between two national parks – Mulu and Loagan Bunut – which makes it a strategic location for the festival.”

He also said they were expecting to rope in some 3,000 to the festival.

“With the improved access road from Long Lama to Long Bedian, I believed that we can pull in more crowds this year,” said Dennis.

He added that the biennial festival would also help develop the tourism industry in Long Bedian.

The festival would be launched by Baram MP Anyi Ngau on Dec 15.
