KUCHING: The appointment of Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as Deputy Prime Minister and the first from Borneo or Sarawak is a historical moment for the state.

Political analyst Dick Lembang Dugun, who pointed this out, also hoped Fadillah would have authority.

“The unity government Cabinet must be functional. Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was given the best ministries, namely, Plantation and Commodities, Works and Tourism.

“Sarawak needs more development, specifically in the rural areas. The Ministry of Works is important to boost the development of infrastructure such as roads, repair dilapidated schools and more.

“Thus, make sure the ministers appointed take the opportunity to develop Sarawak and Sabah too,” he said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune today.

Lembang added the new Cabinet ministers must practise good governance in administration to ensure no wastage of public funds.

“Hopefully, all the appointed ministers will work hard for betterment of Malaysia, specifically for Sarawak and Sabah. Congratulations to all appointed ministers,” he said.
