MARUDI: Police here arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run accident at Jalan Muhibah, Kampung Pemindahan Marudi last night.
It was reported that the police received a call on the road accident involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle at around 7pm.
A police team carrying out crime prevention patrol nearby, was alerted of the crash and rushed to the scene.
They found out that the vehicle had fled towards Miri and this led to a high-speed chase for nearly an hour until the suspect managed to be intercepted at Jalan Miri-Bintulu.
The suspect in his 50s, was then arrested and taken to Marudi police station for further action under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
