KOTA SAMARAHAN: Assistant Minister of Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has been busy going around showing concern for several neglected individuals in our community.

On Thursday he managed to help place one of such unfortunate persons at Desa Bina Diri (DBD) Kuching.

Wong Chui Hui, 58, was previously sheltering in a car in Taman Mutiara Baru, Sri Aman since returning from Miri.

Efforts to place him in DBD Kuching with the cooperation of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Sri Aman Division paid off when the transfer process was carried out on Wednesday.

After undergoing several documentation processes for placement and obtaining approval from the authorities, Wong was then placed at DBD Kuching.

Harden who is also Simanggang assemblyman dropped by at DBD for a short visit to coincide with Wong’s placement at the centre on Thursday. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by its various officials led by its superintendent Tiong Kunyok and joined by Josping Amoh, Sulaiman Morni, Noor Ariza Agai and Nur Farahin Jeffry.

Apart from monitoring Wong’s placement, his visit was aimed to get a briefing from the officials on the segregation procedure before Wong is allowed to mix with the other residents.

“I am relieved to see the success of JKM Sri Aman Division in transferring the neglected Wong Chui Hui to the centre which has the best humanitarian management.

“His placement now is very suitable and far better than taking shelter in a car,” he said.

He hoped Wong would be more comfortable at DBD Kuching, with guaranteed access to food as well as having friends to chat with.
