KUCHING: Volunteers of Hope Place delivered foodstuffs to the fire victims at Kampung Tupong Hulu, Jalan Astana, here yesterday.

The foodstuffs included rice, cooking oil, salt, sugar, noodles and biscuits, Milo, water and towel, said Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan.

He added that three houses were destroyed in the incident, leaving 34 people from three families homeless.

Hope Place is an NGO that visits the poor and less fortunate families to distribute some essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles.

Many of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month hence they are grateful with the assistance of basic necessities delivered to them.

For families with children with special needs or with elderly or disabled people, they are provided with milk powder, oat and diapers among other items.

Hope Place delivers the items once every two months because of the many families on their list. It currently supports more than 170 families.

For more information on how one can help Hope Place, call them at 013-5672775 from 8.30am to noon and 2.00pm to 5.00pm on Mondays to Fridays.
