KUCHING: A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Hope Place has acted swiftly after receiving a distress call from a family in Samariang where they were left helpless after most of their belongings, including beds and clothes, were ruined by floodwater.

Their neighbours were also in similar distress and needed urgent help.

As such Hope Place had handed over emergency supplies such as mattresses, blankets, towels and food aid to the three households in Samariang.

On top of that, the NGO also gave the victims some clothes from its budget shop.

In the meantime, Hope Place said its budget shop constantly received good conditioned second-hand items like clothes, shoes, electrical appliances and bags from the public.

It added at the budget shop, not only customers can buy goods at a very cheap price, but the shop also provides second-hand items like clothes for needy families under their care as well as emergency cases of flood and fire victims.

However, due to Kuching still under the red zone, Hope Place is not receiving any second-hand goods currently for safety and hygienic purposes until further notice.

For further information, Hope Place can be reached at 082-505987. Their opening hours are from 8.30am to 5.30pm from Mondays till Fridays and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.

They welcome any donation and receipts will be given upon request.
