KUCHING: A total of 43 families in Kampung Jugan who were affected by the recent floods received food aid and other necessities.

Hope Place, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) provided basic food aid, face masks, hand sanitisers, and soaps totalling RM5,000 to the villagers.

The aid was delivered by a lorry from Hope Place to the village and was handed over to the Ketua Kampung Ponisa Nyunyan.

“The houses of thirteen families were flooded with the water level as high as five feet. The flood started on Jan 13 and lasted until Jan 15, causing the road between the village and the main road to Bau town impassable.

“The villagers were unable to get their daily supplies nor any help at all,” said Hope Place, thanking the donors for the contributions.

“Together with the local community and NGOs we are able to give assistance to those in need,” they added.

The new operating hours for Hope Place are 8am to 5pm (Monday to Friday) and 8am to 12pm on Saturday. It is closed on Sunday and public holidays.
