KUCHING: In a recent visit, Hope Place extended support to Flora Wilson, a 22-year-old single mother grappling with kidney failure and the challenges of raising her three-year-old son.

Diagnosed with kidney failure at the tender age of 12, Flora also battles SLE, an autoimmune disease, and contends with high blood pressure.

Residing in a modest flat at Demak Laut with her brother, Flora faces the arduous task of managing her health while seeking stable employment.

“She recalled how she would always have a high fever and vomit frequently. On top of all this, Flora also has high blood pressure.

“With all these accumulating diseases, Flora is unable to find a stable job,” Hope Place said in a statement.

Despite her health setbacks, Flora miraculously gave birth to a healthy baby boy three years ago, who is now cared for by her farmer parents in Simunjan.

In Kuching, Flora’s devoted brother, employed as a construction worker, shoulders the responsibility of transporting her for thrice-weekly dialysis on his weathered motorbike.

Financial constraints add to their struggles, with Flora’s savings dwindling.

Amidst these challenges, a glimmer of hope shines through, as Flora recently received approval for social welfare financial assistance.

Grateful for the support from Hope Place, Flora is determined to regain her health for the sake of her son.
