KUCHING: Hope Place has come to the aid of fire victims at Kampung Sudat and Kampung Sejijak Maliha on Monday.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan said they received a call on Monday at around 5.30pm seeking for help to aid fire victims at Kampung Sudat and another call at 7pm for victims at Kampung Sejijak Maliha.

He handed over the aid to ten victims at Kampung Sudat, represented by Jonie Sait, who informed that the fire started in the kitchen around 3pm.

At Kampung Sejijak Maliha, he handed over the aid to Mohtram Asen, who represented four victims. According to Mohtram, the fire started around 4.30pm.

“Normally these fire victims would spend the night at their neighbour’s house and urgently need items such as mattresses, pillows and blankets.

“Besides that, we also provide drinking water, face masks, basic food necessities, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and towels. We always do our best to help these emergency cases as soon as we can,” said Wan.

As these fire victims would be at their neighbour’s homes without any mattresses to sleep on, he said they could not wait until the next day and thus, without any delay, the Hope Place team started packing food aid for the fire victims and went over in the late evening.
