KUCHING: Hope Place has reached out to a disabled single mother after her heart-wrenching plea for help.

Norin Naram, 51, who has weathered the trials and tribulations of single motherhood, resides with her two daughters, son-in-law, and grandchild in Batu Kawa.

“Norin, with several health issues such as kidney failure, heart problems and diabetes, is now wheelchair-bound and visually impaired.

“She has been on dialysis since 2017 and also had suffered a stroke in 2020,” Hope Place said in a press release.

It added that at the moment the only breadwinner of the family is her 22 year old daughter’s husband who works as a shop assistant.

“Norin’s youngest daughter aged 13, is still at school and her eldest daughter used to work in a supermarket after leaving school, but after giving birth, she stopped.

“Norin used to be a construction worker when her children were still small. However, when she was diagnosed with kidney problems in 2017, she had to quit but it did not stop her from providing and caring for her children,” it added.

Norin also told the NGO that she always uses e-hailing taxis to go hospital for her dialysis treatment, three times weekly.

“Hope Place is encouraged by Norin’s tenacious and strong spirit, despite having to face challenges along the way.

“The NGO is supporting the family with supplies of food aid and baby milk powder for Norin’s grandchild,” it added.
