KUCHING: Twenty-three families under quarantine recently received assistance from Hope Place Kuching.

Hope Place said that the families residing along Jalan Kuching-Serian were given one-off assistance consisting of essential foods, face masks, hand sanitisers and soaps.

“We were made aware of these families by concerned members of the public that lived nearby. The village development and security (JKKK) also informed us about other families in similar situations.

“As these families are under strict orders to not leave their homes, we were quick to respond and to help ease their burdens.

“There were families that had two of their family members currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. A young mother was left with two very young children quarantined at home with a scarcity of food,” Hope Place added.

The distribution of the emergency assistance took place last week despite the heavy downpour.

Hope Place said that some locations required the team to climb up steep hills. The team also had to walk through the heavy rain, carrying bags of rice, cooking oil, boxes of biscuits and a handful of goods.

“We would like to thank all of our donors who had contributed continuously and for the support provided to help the needy community here in Kuching,” Hope Place said.
