SIBU: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) vice president Councillor Teo Boon Siew hopes there will be good news for the people of Sibu in the 2023 Budget that will be announced on October 7.

He said that Deputy Finance Minister, Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah was here to attend a dialogue session organised by Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who is also the Bintulu MP.

The dialogue was to enable Sibu’s problems to be heard through the right channel.

“During the two-day visit, Shahar met with various communities, industry players, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and government agencies to listen and learn about the problems they experienced.

“Various problems were voiced out to him including flood problems, business, infrastructure, and so on for the attention of the central government,” Teo told a press conference here today (Sept 8).

“We hope that the problems presented through the dialogue session will be solved through the 2023 Budget),” he added.

Teo hoped that such dialogue sessions involving the Deputy Minister of Finance from the federal government would continue to be held in the future.

“I hope it will not be the first and the last because we are still facing many problems that need to be solved,” he added.

Also present at the press conference were Central Region PDP chairman Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong and Central Region PDP vice chairman Wong Ung.
