MUKAH: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi is hoping that the number of Covid-19 cases in this district will subside quickly.

“There has been an increase in cases recently, especially in the Bukit Dinding-Begeri area. Mukah is now a red zone,” he said during a handing over ceremony of an air-conditioning unit at the Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) at the Mukah Youth Camp here.

Meanwhile, the quarantine centre has three air-conditioning units — each unit is a contribution from Sarawak Energy Berhad, Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and the Mukah Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC).

After being restructured, the centre can now accommodate 150 patients compared to only 80 patients previously.

Also present at the ceremony was Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir, who is also Mukah DDMC chairman.
