MIRI: A flyover with the length of 850 metres at Miri Aiport junction is expected to ease traffic congestion from Taman Tunku towards Permyjaya and Kuala Baram areas.
State Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin disclosed this yesterday morning after inspecting the site.
The project is part of the Pan Borneo Highway, said the Senadin assemblyman.
“Once the construction work is complete at this section, the contractor would be moved to Pujut Corner and Sungai Miri Dual Carriageway Bridge at Padang Kerbau Interchange area to finish the section there,” he said.
Lee added that this section (Padang Kerbau Interchange) is expected for completion in the middle of July this year.
“The construction of this Interchange link is meant to reduce congestion along the area,” he pointed out.
During yesterday morning site inspection, Lee was accompanied by northern zone manager of Pan Borneo Highway Unit (PBHU) JKR Sarawak Ir. Siaw Ming Chian.
