Hospital urges public to donate blood

Date:

KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has made an appeal for the public to help stock up its blood supply.

It is understood that the blood supply has depleted given the lack of blood donors leading up to the festive season.

“We hope to get the cooperation of all members of the community to donate their bloods to ensure that its supply is at a safe level,” the hospital said in a statement yesterday.

A blood donation drive, held by SGH, will be conducted at four locations here this weekend.

“On Saturday, our team will be mobilised to Giant Tabuan Jaya and Level 2 of AEON mall. The campaigns will start at 10am until 3pm.

“Meanwhile, on Sunday, our teams will be at Level 2 of AEON mall from 10am until 3pm and at Hope Church, Sunny Commercial Centre, Jalan Dogan from 1.30pm until 4.30pm.

“The cooperation and support of the public is needed to ensure the daily operations of SGH remains unaffected,” the statement said.

The public is also reminded to bring their identification card and blood donation record book to the donation drive.

Refreshments will be provided after the blood donation and the public is encouraged to stop by and bring along their family and friends to donate blood.

For weekly updates of the movement of the SGH’s blood donation team, the public can visit the Blood Bank Hospital Umum Sarawak’s social media page on Facebook and Instagram.
