KUCHING: Hilton Kuching’s team members have taken the opportunity to support Hope Place Kuching by repurposing used soaps from guest rooms into bars for the poor and needy in Sarawak.

The soap bars will be distributed to needy families by Hope Place.

Hygiene is a top priority now with many people increasing their frequency of hand-washing to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The used soaps are processed according to guidelines by partner Ecolab, which includes sanitising the soap first, then grating and melting it with various scents sourced from the team members’ own backyards.

Hilton Kuching general manager Hamish Watts sourced kaffir lime leaves from his personal garden to create a kaffir lime and pandan soap to exfoliate the skin.

Hilton Kuching commercial director Christina Chang donated pandan leaves to make fresh green pandan soap.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s hygiene manager Mohd Rafee’s lemongrass, with the combination of executive housekeeper Yin Tan’s aloe vera, produced a soothing soap.
