House gets thrown firecrackers at midnight; windows, ceilings damaged

SIBU: A house in Lorong 12B, Jalan Bukit Penyau was damaged due to firecrackers suspected to be thrown purposely early this morning.

Some parts of the front windows, its frame and ceiling were damaged around 12.40am.

Sarawak Fire Department assistant director of operations Henderi Ardimanshah when contacted today, said no injuries were reported in the incident.

Firemen from Sibu station was deployed to the scene, about 10km from the station.

“The damages at the scene, was confirmed but no fire was started from the explosion.

“We have advised the house owner to lodge a police report as the incident was believed to be arson,” he said.

Once the situation is safe, the team departed back to the station.
