House gutted in early morning blaze

SIBU: A family of four was left homeless after a fire gutted their house at Jalan Nibong Delta here yesterday.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said that the department received a distress call at 4.47am on the incident and deployed firefighters from Sibu and Sungai Merah fire stations to the scene.

The upper floor of the house was fully destroyed by the flames upon the firemen’s arrival.

The fire was fully extinguished at 7.08am and no injuries or casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
