Housemaid absconds after stealing over RM10,000 from employer

KUCHING: A businessman lodged a police report after his maid stole more than RM10,000 in cash as well as his mobile phones from him last Sunday.

The 42-year-old man, from Jalan Airport, here said he returned home at 11.30am and found that his maid, aged 20, was nowhere to be found.

Upon checking, he discovered that RM10,000, S$2,000 and A$1,500 and several mobile phones kept in his room were missing.

Meanwhile, a self employed man was robbed of his belongings by a group of robbers last Saturday night.

The incident took place at around 10.30pm at the Kuching Waterfront here while the victim was chit-chatting with two of his friends. This was when three men, armed with a sharp object, approached him and demanded valuables from him.

Fearing for his life, the victim handed over his wallet to them.

After the trio left the scene, the victim went to a police station to lodge a report.

Police are investigating both cases.
