MIRI: A housewife from Miri lost RM6,000 after falling victim to a fake part-time job offer advertised on Facebook, according to Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.

The victim, in her 40s, was deceived by a syndicate operating on social media  platforms, lured by promises of lucrative part-time opportunities.

ACP Alexson said the victim, while surfing social media, came across an advertisement on a Facebook page offering part-time employment.

“She was instructed to register her personnel details on a website ‘HTTP://BLACKMARTAAPPSTORE.COM  and was given several tasks, such as clicking ‘like’ on items on the website and for each ‘like’, she was promised lucrative commissions.”

The victim made payments to four different bank accounts between Oct 19 and 21 for every assignment she completed.

“For the first assignment, she received a commission payment, but not the following task until the last (seventh commission),” ACP Alexson disclosed.

The victim lodged a police report on Monday (Oct 23) and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
