Housewife loses necklace to snatch thieves

MARUDI: A housewife lost RM2,000 worth of gold necklace after falling victim to a group of four snatch thieves at her own house at e-Kasih, Jalan Bintulu-Miri, Bukit Song, Bakong yesterday morning.

Baram District Police chief, DSP Gabriel Risut confirmed receiving a report of the incident and said the victim, Rabia Abang, 59, claimed that the four male suspects, comprising a local man and three Indonesians were travelling in a Toyota Hilux.

In the incident that took place at around 9.00am, one of the suspects pretended to ask the victim about purchasing a piece of land  in the area while another suspect approached her and pushed her to the ground before slapping her twice.

“At that moment, one of them (suspects) pulled the gold necklace away from the victim and then fled the scene in their vehicle,” he said.   

Gabriel reminded the public to report any suspicious activities in their areas should they come across them.
