Housing developer to pay RM87k for late delivery

MIRI:  The Sarawak Housing Purchaser Claims Tribunal on Thursday ordered a developer to pay a home buyer here a total of RM86,989.14 for late delivery of an apartment unit.

Tribunal president Datuk Maznah Dasmi, directed the developer to pay the amount for late delivery of the property worth RM700,000 to the buyer, Chung Siew Sang who was supposed to receive the unit on January 25, 2019.

Maznah who was assisted by tribunal members Robert Elone Sireng and Simon Woon Ta Meng at the hearing, ordered the developer to make payment within 45 days after receiving the letter of award.

She revealed that based on the sale and purchase agreement signed between the  buyer and developer on January 25, 2016, the developer had exceeded the deadline to deliver the condominium unit by 36 months.

Failure to comply, the developer would be fined RM5,000 or jailed up to two years or both under Section 53(1)of the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Ordinance 2013.
