“Currently, the number of skilled labour is only 28 per cent… we need to focus more on this and employers are encouraged to give their staff the opportunity to acquire skills.

Meanwhile, when asked about legislation to protect domestic workers, Kula Segaran said it was not an easy process.

“You know it’s not that easy when you want to amend an Act. There are so many procedures, so many stakeholders. It will take time. But I’m in the process of doing it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tenaganita executive director Glorene A Das said the ministry must work towards enacting a standalone Act for domestic workers, the media reported today.

At the event, Kula Segaran also presented duit raya and school assistance to 18 children of the Nur Syaheera Organisation, Cheras. – Bernama
