KAPIT: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong paid a visit to Rumah Demong, Nanga Sebatang, Mujong here recently.

The visit also coincided with a pre-Gawai celebration at the longhouse.

Speaking later, Ugak said almost all longhouses in the Sungai Mujong area had been installed with Solar Energy under the SARES (Sarawak Alternative Rural Electricity Supply) programme of the state government.

“However, the present power of 2,000 watts given to each door is not sufficient to power the refrigerator, rice cooker, fans etc. Feedback from the people – they complained of insufficient power supply. I have informed the authority concerned (Sarawak Electricity Berhad) to upgrade the power to 4,000 watts,” said Ugak.

At the function also, he presented MRP (Minor Rural Project) government grants to 20 JKKKs (Village Security and Development Committee) totalling RM95,000.

The Hulu Rajang constituency covers four state constituencies namely Baleh, Belaga, Murum and Kakus.
