KUCHING: WWF-Malaysia lauds prominent NGO advocate, Dato’ Sri Ang Lai Soon’s call to extend the sustainable living practices outside cities to towns and any human settlement and to individual dwellings.

The conservation goal behind Earth Hour is to build an ongoing sustainability commitment beyond the hour and drive positive environmental outcomes to climate change, said WWF-Malaysia Executive Director / CEO Dato’ Dr Dionysius Sharma.

“Hence, living sustainably should not be confined tocities only as rightly pointed out by Dato Sri Ang Lai Soon,” he said in response to Ang’s Earth Hour message published on March 25.

In his message, Ang had highlighted it is imperative that our pledge must be to live in harmony with nature and not to destroy the shared planet earth.

“We are part of nature, a vulnerable species, not sodifferent from any other species, many of which man has driven to extinction.

“With climate change caused by man’s quite insatiable exploitation of the oceans, land and air, ostensibly, we are sowing the seeds of our own extinction! Let’s stop this, take the first step today,” he said.
