MUKAH: Police arrested three hunters here last Friday, confiscating two shotguns, including a homemade one, in the process.

Mukah OCPD DSP Jimmy Panyau said some villagers informed the police that they had made a citizen’s arrest in their village.

A police team then went to Kampung Judan at 8.10pm and took the hunters into custody.

“The three locals were hunting at an access road to an oil palm plantation in Sungai Nafe,” Jimmy said via WhatsApp last Saturday.

He added that the villagers made the citizen’s arrest because the trio were hunting in their village area.

He also revealed that one shotgun had a valid licence but belonged to another person, while the other shotgun was homemade.

The trio, aged between 31 and 53, are being remanded for four days until tomorrow, and the case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960.
