KUCHING: The trial operations and passenger service of the hydrogen buses are temporarily suspended until further notice.

The routes for both Downtown Heritage Loop and Damai Loop are both affected by the suspension.

“The temporary suspension is part of our precautionary safety measures as our drivers had close contact with a third-party contractor who tested positive for Covid-19 recently,” said Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) in a statement.

It is now making arrangement for all of its hydrogen bus drivers to undergo a Covid-19 screening and sanitisation of all the buses.

“Since resuming our trial operations on Sept 2 last year, we have adhered strictly to all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlined by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“This includes ensuring the people in the bus wear face masks and have their body temperature taken.

“We regret any inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension of the hydrogen bus trial operation and we will notify the public once the service is resumed,” it added.
