KUCHING: Refueling hydrogen fuel in cell stations is as safe as refueling in any gas stations, assures Transport Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
The Mambong assemblyman said the public should not be unduly worried because all safety measures and precautions are in place.
“This means that all security measures we have put in place with Sarawak Energy (SEB) and they have directed an experienced company to undertake the management of the stations,” he said when asked on the matter.
“In Sarawak, we are very concerned about safety, management and everything else so that hydrogen buses are a safe haven for all,” he told reporters yesterday.
Jerip further explained that hydrogen is a technology that has been used for a long time around the world by the term ‘hydrogen economy’.
“We have also received information and scientific research papers from various universities regarding hydrogen, stating that it is a very safe technology to use,” he added.
