KUCHING: Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said he makes it a point to monitor all projects being implemented in his constituency.

“I check on these projects from start to finish,” he said during a site visit to check on the progress of Simanggang Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) in Sri Aman recently.

Harden, who is Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister, visited two projects at RPR Taman Sentosa Indah — a basketball court with roof, and a futsal court with roof (which has been upgraded with a stage, fencing, toilet and awning in phase II of the project).

The two projects were built to meet the demand of the youths in Simanggang.

In addition, Harden also visited the Kampung Muhibbah multipurpose hall which is currently 99 per cent completed.

On the two projects for the youths, Harden hopes that the recreational and sports facilities in his area would benefit the youngsters.

In addition to filling the youth’s time, he said, the facility could also polish the young people’s hidden talents in sports and strengthen relationships among communities.

“Useful activities are also able to prevent young people from doing unprofitable activities such as drug abuse,” said Harden.
