KUCHING: Shame on Abdul Aziz Isa for asking to cancel the hall and hawker centre for Kpg Haji Baki, said Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang.

Lo who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman was shocked that Aziz had gone too far by using him (Lo) as a target just to get Aziz’s pictures to create some relevancy for himself to account for his “usefulness” to the public.

“Aziz is now asking me in public on the reason why I did not cancel the RM1 million Kpg Haji Baki Dewan project and the RM800,000 Kpg Haji Baki Hawker Centre project since it is now 2019,” he said.

Lo wanted to tell Aziz that as a lawyer, he should know why but when Lo checked the facts and he realised Aziz is not a lawyer.

“Half baked “lawyers” who are only a copycats and too lazy to do their homework before opening their big mouths should think twice about calling themselves politicians,” Lo said.

He added that as busy as he is, he will be going to furnish Aziz with true facts and he is issuing Aziz an invitation to make an appointment to see him at Padawan Municipal Council if he is still confused.

“He should not deliberately confuse the public if it is, he himself who is really confused,” Lo said.

He added that some of the true facts about Kpg Haji Baki is that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak through the State Development Office pledged RM570,000 in 2016 for earthworks and Public Works Department (JKR) completed it in 2018.

RM570,000 was paid in two phases to the contractor by JKR with Phase One for RM370,000 and Phase Two for RM200,000.

Apart from that, Najib also pledged another RM1 million for the building of Dewan Kpg Haji Baki just before the state elections in 2016.

Najib also pledged another RM800,000 to improve facilities at the Haji Baki Hawkers Centre.

“The villagers through their own initiatives even approached the State Development Office and JKR in 2018 and was told that instructions have been received via the Federal Ministry of Finance (MOF) to KIV (keep in view) these two projects.

“Now, who is the current Minister of Finance? It is none other than Aziz’s big boss, Lim Guan Eng,” Lo said.

Aziz also asked Lo why he did not cancel the Kpg Haji Baki projects which was such an awful thing to say.

Lo said regardless of whether the funds were pledged by the previous government or the present one, “We should continue to fight for the funds.”

“The people of Kpg Haji Baki voted for me as their representative in the State Legislative Assembly because they are giving me the chance to serve them, I would never cancel the projects. Our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg would never agree to cancel the projects, too,” he said.

Regardless of whether it is the previous government or the present one Lo would still fight for the projects for the people of Kpg Haji Baki.

Lo also mentioned that instead of asking him to cancel those projects, Aziz should instead approach his boss, Lim Guan Eng and tell him not to KIV the funds for the projects but to release them immediately to complete these two projects which the people of Haji Baki have been waiting for, for years.

“The allocation is a mere RM1.8 million compared to Sarawak’s contribution of RM250 million a day from oil drilled and siphoned by Petronas to benefit Malaya. Sarawak has been contributing up to 30 per cent of the total oil revenue for the whole nation, has it not?

“Where is the promise to return the 20 per cent oil royalty and to return autonomy on health and education that was bragged about by Lim Guan Eng, Chong Chieng Jen and Violet Yong before GE14,” Lo asked.
