IBS 2018 to host over 400 local, foreign entrepreneurs

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 400 foreign and local entrepreneurs will be participating in the 15th Malaysia International Branding Showcase (IBS) 2018 from Dec 13-16 at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

Malaysia Promas International Business Society (Promas) Strategic Director Datuk Naim Mohamad said the annual event, organised by ES International Event Management Sdn Bhd (ES) will feature 480 booths, exhibiting products from China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea, among others.

“This is an ongoing effort to promote Malaysian made products as well as to expose our local entrepreneurs to the latest technologies, expand their business networking and generate new sales leads,” he said in a press conference here, yesterday.

Among the product highlights are home appliances, apparel, household products, wellness and beauty care products, food and beverages, as well as smart toys and gifts.

He said among the exhibitors were 50 local entrepreneurs from the Malaysian Small Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (DPUKM), China’s Zhejiang and Fujian provinces (150 and 135 respectively), Taiwan (40), Japan and South Korea (50) as well as 50 entrepreneurs from the ASEAN-China Economic and Trade Development Promotion Association.

Naim also expected 10,000 visitors to this year’s edition compared with 9,400 visitors in 2017 following the increased number of booths this year against 450 last year.

Meanwhile, Promas President and ES Managing Director Datuk Chong Chong Tik said various conferences and workshops would also be organised during the four-day event including the World Union of Agricultural Associations (WUAA) conference which Malaysia will be hosting for the first time.

“On Dec 13, WUAA will be speaking about food security, eradicating poverty, how to leverage on technology to provide food for the world and ways to increase the capacity of agricultural products,” said Chong who is also the WUAA chairman for the 2018-2020 term.

WUAA is a global non-profitable non-governmental organisation dedicated to worldwide development and cooperation between all agricultural associations from partner countries around the world, comprising 20 countries including China, Russia and Japan. – Bernama
