KUCHING: Datuk Idris Buang has slammed Stampin candidate Chong Chieng Jen for pointing fingers at Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) over the uncontrolled inflation rate.

GPS publicity and media relations chairman Datuk Idris Buang stated that the world was facing inflation, however, Malaysia stood well as it still managed to churn out assistance to the people to alleviate their problems.

“Moreover, here, the state government allocated a total of RM6.7bil to help Sarawakians. The government is doing everything they can to solve this problem.

“Compared to some other countries, our poverty level is under control,” he said.

Idris said this during the 15th general election (GE15) Chit Chat at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera
Bersatu (PBB) headquarters on yesterday (Nov 12).

He questioned Chong, the Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP)‎ chairman, on what he had done for Sarawak when he was the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs in the Pakatan Harapan administration for 22 months.

“How much has he done for Sarawak and for the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)? What did he do for the cancelled projects, especially the bridges here? What role did he play behind the cancelled projects?

“Did he ever care about what Sarawakians felt when the projects were cancelled? Did he actually care for any Sarawakian then?

“If you want to win the Stampin parliamentary seat, you must answer these questions first to the rakyat. Otherwise, it is better for the rakyat to choose GPS Stampin candidate Lo Khere Chiang.”

Idris pointed out that Lo had always had a good track record. “He is capable of bringing more for Sarawak as well as for the people in Stampin if he becomes the MP.”

“There will be more funds for the area too. And as the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, Lo will be able to serve the people better as he is a hard-working person,” Idris added.
