KUCHING: Sarawak’s interest will better be served with a strong Sarawak representation in the new Federal Cabinet.

In stating this, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) publicity and media relations chairman Datuk Idris Buang also said that Sarawak’s voice will be heard in Parliament.

“Furthermore, our deputy prime minister (DPM) is Datuk Seri Fadillah Abdullah.

“With his wide and respectable length of experience in legal and political fields, indeed it is a very good and appropriate choice to be the DPM,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.

Meanwhile, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang also welcomed the announcement of Petra Jaya MP Fadillah being appointed as the DPM.

“We can see that a DPM post and five full minister posts are given to Sarawak, therefore I hope our MPs from GPS will bring great benefits to Sarawak,” he said.

Lo added what is also important is to ensure that the state’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are restored.

“We must also get back our autonomy that belongs to Sarawak,” he said.
