
MATU: The Darul Yaqin Mosque in Kampung Sekaan Besar here which has a historical value will continue to be looked after.
With that, Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi said that he had presented funds to upgrade the mosque.
“The Darul Yaqin Mosque is a heritage building that has a high historical value of which it is not only the pride of the residents of Kampung Sekaan, but also the entire Matu community,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 5).
Earlier, on the same day, Ahmad Johnie had taken the opportunity to visit the said mosque and meet the community there.
He also said that the mosques need to be maintained from time to time because the structure of the building is made of wood.
“I have contributed a lot of funds to ensure that this mosque is a conducive place to perform worship and other activities,” he said.
He added that he had contributed funds to the Madrasah Islamiah (religious school) to carry out maintenance purposes.
“The old building was once used as a dormitory for SMK Matu students in 1971,” he said.
