IKBM Miri to start vaccination drive

IKBN's multipurpose hall will be used in dispensing AstraZeneca vaccine this coming June 7 in Miri.

MIRI: The National Youth Skills Institute Miri (IKBN) vaccination centre (PPV) for the AstraZeneca vaccines will begins its vaccination drive this coming June 7.

This was confirmed by minister in charge of Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin on Sunday (May 30) after visiting the PPV.

IKBM Miri was amongst the four new PPVs announced recently by the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

The other three PPVS are Setia SPICE Arena (Pisa), in Bayan Lepas, Penang; Persada Johor International Convention Centre, Johor Bajru; and Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

“IKBM Miri will be turn into PPV for Astra Zeneca vaccines and those who have made their appointments slots via MySejahtera applications need to come here (IKBN PPV) for vaccination,” Lee said.

Earlier, he was at IKBN Miri to inspect preparations for the vaccination drive.

On another note, MDDMC is also looking into the possibility of setting up a Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) at Miri Civic Centre and Miri Stadium.

Meanwhile, according to report by Miri Divisional Health office, a total of 2,514 vaccines have been administered in this division on Saturday (May 29) at seven PPVs namely at Eastwood Valley Hall (540), Dato Permaisuri Hall (498), Sepupok Niah Community Hall (378), Marudi Civic centre (360), Long Lama multipurpose Hall (282), Miri Hospital (390) and Marudi Hospital (66).

During Lee’s visit to the IKBM PPV were Acting Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf, Miri Health Divisional officer Dr P. Raviwharmman Packierisamy and Miri Deputy Police chief Supt Sabri Zainol.
