BINTULU: The Bintulu Region 5 Marine Police Force (PPM) seized 37 logs worth RM9,250 in Ops Landai in the Kemena Industrial area, last night.
Bintulu PPM Operations Headquarters Commanding Officer ASP Ezuandi Bahadin said the confiscation according to the Sarawak Forestry Ordinance was carried out by five members of the Bintulu PPM Marine Intelligence Unit.
“Inspection results found that the evidence on the transit removal pass document displayed was not the same as the load of logs brought,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 20).
According to him, when stopped by the police, the 34 years old male lorry driver also failed to produce any permit issued by the Sarawak Forest Department (JHS) Bintulu Division.
The man was then detained for further investigation while the confiscated items were then handed over to JHS Bintulu Division.
