BAU: A man, suspected to be a top-up agent for illegal online gambling activities, was arrested in an operation dubbed Ops Dadu on Saturday (Aug 8).
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the arrest was made by a team of personnel of Bau Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at Siniawan Central here at 2.48pm.
“The team arrested the 28-year-old man outside a building and seized cash and a smartphone from him,” he said in a statement.
Poge added that the suspect does not have any prior criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which provides for a fine of not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM50,000, and imprisonment of not more than three years, if convicted.
