KUCHING: The Land & Survey Department Sibu has foiled an attempt by unscrupulous individuals to extract rocks without permit.

The department’s enforcement team stumbled upon the illegal
activity while patrolling the area last Thursday.

No one was detained but the enforcement team seized from the site two heavy vehicles, a backhoe and a lorry as case exhibits.

The case will be investigated under Section 32A State Land Code (Chapter 81).

In line with this, the department advised members of the public who want to carry out soil, sand, or rock extractions to always refer to its
nearest office for advice.

This is to avoid being unnecessarily charged with carrying out illegal activities.

The department can be reached either through 082-444111 (head office) or the department’s website at www.talikhidmat.sarawak.gov.my or call 555999.
