MUKAH: The Land and Survey Department Enforcement Unit has successfully intercepted numerous activities involving unauthorised transfer of sandstone materials at various locations in the waters of Mukah division here.

During the operation on Wednesday, a total of two barges, two tugboats, one ship, and five cranes which were used to carry out the activities were seized as evidence.

In a statement released yesterday, the department revealed that the unauthorised activities were detected as a result of public tip-off and two weeks’ worth of intelligence.

“All cases will be investigated under Section 32A of the Sarawak Land Code (Chapter 81).”

Following this, the department urged those who wished to undertake sandstone excavation and transfer activities to first refer to the nearest Land and Survey office for further advice in order to avoid any enforcement action.

Members of the public are also encouraged to provide information on such activities to the department at 082-444111 (headquarters), https://talikhidmat.sarawak.gov.my, or fixed line at 555999.
