MUKAH: Police seized contraband cigarettes worth RM17,800 in a store at Selangau town during a raid last Sunday (July 25).
Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the police carried out an integrated crime prevention operations at 11.30am and detained a 71-year-old man believed to be the owner of the store.
“The police found 140 cartons of various brands of cigarettes worth RM17,800.
“Aside from that, the man failed to produce any documents pertaining to the goods,” he said.
Muhamad Rizal added that the suspect and the seized items were taken to Mukah police station for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 135 (1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
