KUCHING: The Sarawak Customs Department (JKDM) was reminded to develop a better work culture so that they can adapt to the changes in the present world.

Deputy Finance Minister Shahar Abdullah said with them being adaptable to changes they would improve their service delivery.

“JKDM has to improve their service delivery by correcting past mistakes as well as groom the younger generation within its ranks.

“With the young being groomed with motivation and integrity, they would be able to shoulder their tasks responsibly and at the same time increase public trust in the department,” he said.

He said this during his address when visiting JKDM Sarawak’s building last Thursday (July 9).

Earlier, State Customs director Datuk Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha, who also spoke at the function, asked the department to improve its service delivery.

Shahar’s visit was his first since he was appointed to his position last March. The visit was also to improve the working relationship between the Finance Ministry, Sarawak Federal Treasury and JKDM Sarawak.

Also present during the visit was Sarawak Federal Treasury officer Saiful Sungkih Abdullah.
