Improved situations in Kanowit, Sri Aman and Samarahan

KUCHING: The districts of Kanowit, Sri Aman and Samarahan have improved from orange to yellow after recording 20, 19, and 11 local infection cases respectively in the last 14 days.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the districts of Serian, Bau, Subis, Julau, Selangau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu remained red with a total of 2,665 local infection cases reported in the 12 districts in the last fortnight.

“Song, Sarikei and Dalat Districts remain orange with an overall total of 78 local infection cases reported in the last 14 days,” SDMC said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the districts of Belaga, Lundu, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Marudi, Mukah, Pusa, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok, and Sebauh retained their yellow status with a total of 86 local infection cases recorded over a two-week period.

“Today, there are 264 new recoveries who are discharged from hospitals – 141 from Sibu Hospital, 55 from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), 21 from Bintulu Hospital, 17 from Sarikei Hospital, 12 from Miri Hospital, 11 from Betong Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC), six from the PKRC under Kapit Hospital, and one from Sri Aman PKRC.

“This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 9,388 or 79.04 percent of the total cases in Sarawak,” said SDMC.

It added 2,360 active cases were still being isolated and treated at PKRCs and hospital wards in the state. 

Meanwhile, 178 new person under investigation (PUI) cases were reported today, with one PUI awaiting laboratory test result.

On Covid-19 vaccination, the committee said as of Wednesday, a total of 26,844 people had been inoculated with the vaccine since the start of the immunisation programme on Feb 26.
